Education and tourism development: Széchenyi István University signs cooperation agreement with Xantus János Zoo. Széchenyi István University strengthened its partnership with the Xantus János Zoo in Győr through a formal cooperation agreement focused on education, research, innovation, and sustainability. The collaboration involves the University’s faculties and its vocational secondary school and supports joint activities in tourism, agriculture, animal sciences, and environmental research. The partners will work together on research and development projects related to animal health, nutrition, and soil testing, while zoo experts will contribute to teaching, practical training, student projects, and thesis supervision. The partnership also promotes biodiversity conservation, environmental education, and sustainable tourism development, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange between academia and a community-based conservation institution. Through this long-term collaboration, the University supports cross-sector cooperation that contributes to sustainability, environmental awareness, and the protection of natural values.

Széchenyi István University’s participation in the Interreg Danube Region project “MonStur in the Danube”. The project which aims to establish, test, and launch a transboundary monitoring system for sturgeon populations and migratory fish throughout the Danube River Basin. Led by the Romanian Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests, the project brings together a broad international partnership that includes WWF Central and Eastern Europe, WWF national offices, the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR), Moldova State University, and several research institutions from the Danube region. Through this collaboration, Széchenyi István University contributes to biodiversity conservation, habitat protection, freshwater ecosystem management, and evidence-based environmental policymaking

Széchenyi István University participates in the Horizon Europe SWIM project (Sustainable Water Management and Integrated Management of Fish Migration and Habitats in the Danube River Basin and the North-Western Black Sea). The project supports the implementation of the European Green Deal, the EU Biodiversity Strategy, and freshwater ecosystem protection policies through research on fish migration, habitat conservation, and sustainable water management. Coordinated by the University of Zagreb and implemented with international academic and research partners, the initiative contributes to protecting aquatic biodiversity and improving transnational cooperation for sustainable ecosystem management.

Széchenyi István University participates in the TRANSFER Danube project, which brings together universities, governmental organizations, nonprofit organizations, and private-sector partners to strengthen climate resilience and sustainable agricultural development across the Danube Region. The project develops climate adaptation tools, integrated databases, modelling systems, and good practices supporting drought mitigation, water-resource management, and agricultural resilience. Nonprofit partners include the Central Danube Development Agency Nonprofit Ltd. and the Association “Centre for Sustainability and Economic Growth” of Bulgaria. Through this cooperation, the University contributes to developing evidence-based responses to climate-related sustainability challenges affecting the region.

Led by Wageningen Research in the Netherlands, the consortium includes research institutions, governmental bodies, and sustainability-focused organisations from across Europe. Through its participation, the University supports the development of sustainable agricultural practices and climate adaptation strategies.
