"Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all"
SDG 7 calls for ensuring universal access to modern energy services, improving energy efficiency and increasing the share of renewable energy. To accelerate the transition to an affordable, reliable and sustainable energy system that fulfils these demands, countries need to facilitate access to clean energy research and technology and to promote investment in resource- and energy-efficient solutions and related infrastructure.

Sustainable Energy Education and Research: SZE’s Cooperation with Green Energy Investhor Plc
- Széchenyi István University has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Green Energy Investhor Plc, a key player in Hungary’s green transition and renewable energy sector.

New Challenges for 20-year-old SZEnergy: SZE Team Enters Prototype Category
- Last year marked the twentieth anniversary of the SZEnergy Team, the four-time world champion and world record-holding student competition team dedicated to developing the world’s most energy-efficient vehicle.
2024
SZE’s world record-breaking car is protected by a design patent
- Széchenyi István University pays special attention to the protection of its intellectual property: the work of its researchers and students is protected by a series of registered patents, design patents and trademarks. This time, the shape of the three-time world champion car of the SZEnergy Team has been registered under a design patent, which legally guarantees that the winning bodywork of the student engineering team will remain inimitable in the future.
World record for the third time at Europe's biggest energy efficiency competition
- The SZEnergy Team, a team of students developing an electric vehicle at Széchenyi István University, has once again taken first place in Europe's largest energy efficiency competition in the category of self-driving and electrically powered city cars. In the latter, they won first place, breaking their own world record for the second time.
- The new test station producing e-fuel is an important milestone in three objectives of the University of Szeged. It produces environmentally sustainable green energy; in cooperation with economic partners, it takes SZTE laboratory research to the threshold of industrial use; and its creation was helped by the forward-looking interdisciplinary approach of the university.

- Following the success of the previous year, the SZEnergy Team student team of Széchenyi István University has made another major international achievement: it won second place in the 2023 Shell Eco-marathon Autonomous Programming Competition.
SZE: AUTONOMOUS ROBOTIC VEHICLES PROGRAMMED BY COMPETING STUDENTS AT ZALAZONE
- Széchenyi István University organised an autonomous robotic competition for secondary school students to familiarise them with the technical and IT challenges associated with self-driving vehicles by using computer simulations and small mobile robot platforms.
WORLD RECORD AND TWO GOLD MEDALS AT EUROPE’S BIGGEST ENERGY EFFICIENCY COMPETITION
- The SZEnergy Team, the student team of Széchenyi István University developing electric vehicles took first places in Europe’s biggest energy efficiency competition ahead of the continent’s most prestigious universities in autonomous and the urban concept categories, beating their own last year’s world record in the latter category.

SUCCESS: A PHD STUDENT OF SZE RECEIVED A SPECIAL PRIZE AT AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
This year again, the teachers and researchers of the Széchenyi István University participated in the traditional international conference on sustainability, which was held in Croatia. Zoltán Pusztai, who presented a paper on the optimisation of regenerative braking in a lightweight vehicle, was awarded a PhD student Young Researcher Award.

SZENERGY: THE TEAM FROM SZÉCHENYI ISTVÁN UNIVERSITY FINISHED BEFORE WORLD-FAMOUS UNIVERSITIES
- The SZEnergy Team, the student competition team of Széchenyi István University, finished in the 18th place worldwide and in the 6th place in Europe, behind the universities of Los Angeles, Munich and Turin, which became the second best in another category in the continent.
